We got a puppy a couple weeks ago. He is a vizsla, and his name is Lucky. I used to call Lux my “Lucky Boy” so that’s where the name comes from. He’s a really good puppy! He’s very smart, and very well behaved for a 12 week old pup, but he’s still a rambunctious little dude that likes to explore and find things he ought to leave alone.

We’ve been training him from day 1; starting with little things like sit, down, kennel, rollover, learning his name… He has sit, and down nailed pretty good, but the others are a little slower. We are focusing more on learning his name, and coming right now, and also going to incorporate stay and more use of a release word coming up.

I forgot how much work a puppy is! Not only do they need constant supervision, they also need a lot of repetitive teaching. Just like with anything in life, the habits and good behavior take time to ingrain. It simply takes time.

People come in here for the first time, and some of them have a problem they are hoping chiropractic can fix. They want to know how long it will take for them to get better. I always take the time to explain chiropractic to them, and get them to understand chiropractic isn’t here to “fix” them. I do my best to help them understand what chiropractic actually is for, and about. I just want to preface that and get it out of the way.

The simple, honest answer to that question is: I don’t know. I really have no idea. In all honesty, your problem may never go away. Chances are that it will, but who knows. Anyone that does try to give a time frame is full of it. The human body is just too complex and unique to make those calls. We can make some educated estimations, sure, but we don’t know for sure.

I do know this: that any health enhancing endeavor takes time to set in, and for you to reap the benefits from. One healthy meal won’t do much, if anything, for you. You might as well not workout if all you are going to do is a single one, and call it quits. One night of good sleep doesn’t come close to balancing out 2 weeks of junk sleep. One chiropractic adjustment isn’t going to correct decades of damage and abuse.

Things that are good for you, and enhance your health, take time to mature. Each healthy meal you eat builds on the one before it. Each workout builds on the previous one. Each good night of sleep compounds on one another. Each adjustment builds on its predecessor.

Consistency and frequency are king here. If you aren’t going to be consistent, then you likely aren’t going to have the quality of life you desire. It’s that simple. You don’t need to go from 0 to 100, ease into it, ramp up on things. Baby steps that compound on each other will be leaps and bounds over the long haul. Start somewhere.

Regular chiropractic care is one of the simplest things you can do to start working towards living a higher quality of life, and having a healthier body. All you have to do is show up here and lay down. Seriously.
