I’d prefer to say I’ve been running a bit less than optimal for about 5 weeks now. It started with a little bit of a sore and scratchy throat, which turned into a pretty disgusting cough that brought brightly colored things up from the greatest depths of my lungs.

It tamed down for a couple of weeks, where I didn’t really have a cough, but could feel something in my sinuses. I figured I was out of the woods and would be good to go shortly. Not so much…

Now I’ve had more of a barking type of cough the past couple of weeks. It doesn’t produce much of anything, but when it does, it’s a fun color. It’s toning down with each passing day, but boy, I’m over this.

It sucks to express bad feeling symptoms. Nobody likes to feel icky or under the weather, and I’m no exception. I am the exception in that I let things run their course, and try to not interfere with the healing process. I haven’t taken anything for this other than some cough drops, and I will keep it that way. I honestly don’t even love taking cough drops, but dang, when you’ve been coughing off and on for 5 weeks, your throat takes a hit.

I’m not a fan of medical doctors, and they don’t impress me. I’ve heard some extremely dumb things come out of their mouths that make no logical sense. I’ve heard plenty of other people’s stories of dumb things that have been said to them. Lastly, I look at the state of health in this nation, and it confirms that the last place I should run to get well is the doctor.

My symptoms are an outward expression of the lacking health within my body. I have some ideas of what might be causing my ongoing symptoms, but that would be for another post. Just a hint: I have a good bit of life stressors at the moment – emotional stress impacts the body just as much, if not more, than physical stress.

If I were to go to the doctor and get something for my symptoms, I really wouldn’t be helping my body. IT might make me FEEL better in the short term, but it would HARM my body in the long term. Not only would my body have to continue to build up from my lack of health, it would now have to combat whatever drug was prescribed to me. Sure, my symptoms would be reduced, but reduced symptoms do not equate to healing and health. Read that again.

We base our health on how we feel, and how we feel is a TERRIBLE indicator of health. How many people do you know that felt great, and then found out they had cancer? Or dropped dead of a heart attack? It happens all the time. Basing your health on how you feel is illogical, but it’s how we do things here, and to change that would take literal generations to do.

We ought to base our health on our function, but function is somewhat debatable on how to measure. Here’s my thoughts on how to base your health: do the little things that we KNOW increase your health, and make your body stronger. Do them consistently, and regularly.

Like anything that is good for you such as diet, exercise, and quality sleep, you gain the greatest benefit of regular chiropractic care when you use it on a consistent and regular basis. That’s why ChiroPure is set up the way that it is: to allow you to have your spine checked on a regular basis. All of these little decisions are things that strengthen your body. Their are other choices that can weaken your body – limit or eliminate those.

Doing these healthy things regularly is not a guarantee that you will never feel bad. I’m a living example of that as I type this. However, as I eluded to earlier, I have life stress that is definitely weakening me right now. Anyway… I’m sick of typing, so I think I’ve made a small point, and will wrap this one up.

Much Love,

Dr. Jen
