You see this word and feel immediate disgust and upset over it. No matter the symptom, we don’t like it: vomit, diarrhea, coughing, fever, stuffy nose, sore throat… the list goes on and on.

Our current response when we have a symptom is to do something to suppress it or cover it up. We do this both because symptoms are often uncomfortable, and because we often perceive them to be a bad thing; a sign of a body not working right.

This couldn’t be further from the truth. Symptoms are a GOOD thing! Symptoms are a normal, healthy response by your body. It’s your body’s way to either give you a warning sign, or it’s way to properly handle the root issue.

Vomiting and diarrhea are how your body expels toxins. Certain viruses and bacteria can’t survive at high temperatures; fever is your body’s natural way to kill these off.

When we take something externally that covers up these health expressions, we hinder our body’s natural healing power. Not only does your body have to continue to heal the issue, it now has to deal with an external toxin. More often than not, we would be better off to just let our body go through whatever it is going through without interference.

Speaking of interference… the primary means by which your body heals itself is through the nerve system (spine.) Interference from vertebral subluxation (VS) decreases your body’s natural function and healing ability. One of the simplest things you can do for your overall health, whether you have symptoms or not, is to get your spine checked on a weekly basis. There was even a study that found people who were under long-term, regular chiropractic care had a 200% increase in immunity over the average population! That’s incredible!

Do yourself a favor and incorporate regular chiropractic care into your routine. It WILL make a difference; your only regret will be that you didn’t start sooner.
